Turkish Ground Beef Stew Ingredients :
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound lean ground beef (93% lean)
- 2 carrots, sliced into thick pieces
- 2 russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 cups frozen peas
- 4 cups vegetable stock or water
How to Make Turkish Ground Beef Stew
Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven or large pot over medium heat. Sauté the onion until translucent, about 7 minutes.
Add minced garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the ground beef and brown it.
Stir in carrots and potatoes. Add tomato paste, salt, pepper, oregano, cumin, paprika, frozen peas, and vegetable stock or water.
Turn the heat up to medium high. Bring the stew to a simmer. Turn the heat down to medium and cover with a lid. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes.
Turn the heat off. Let the stew sit covered for 20 minutes before serving.
