Currywurst Recipe Ingredients:
- 4 German sausages (Bratwurst, or any sausage of your choice)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons curry powder (plus extra for sprinkling)
- 1 tablespoon paprika (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon vinegar (apple cider or white vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for frying)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
- Fries or bread rolls (for serving)
Prepare the sauce:
In a small saucepan, combine the ketchup, curry powder, paprika (if using), Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and vinegar.
Stir well and bring to a simmer over low heat.
Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook the sausages:
Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
Add the sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.
You can also grill the sausages if preferred.
Slice the sausages:
Once cooked, remove the sausages from the pan and slice them into bite-sized pieces.
Serve:
Arrange the sliced sausages on a plate and pour the curry sauce over the top.
Sprinkle extra curry powder on top for added flavor, and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Enjoy:
Serve the Currywurst with fries or a bread roll on the side and enjoy your homemade German street food!
Recipe Notes:
Sausages: Use any sausages you like, but Bratwurst is a good choice. Cook them until they’re brown and fully cooked.
Sauce: Mix ketchup, curry powder, a little sugar, and vinegar. Heat it on the stove until it thickens.
Adjusting the Sauce: If the sauce is too thick, add a little water.
Serving: Serve with fries or bread rolls on the side.
Extras: You can sprinkle more curry powder on top or add parsley for extra flavor.
