For the Lemonade:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- 1 cup ice (optional)
Optional Garnish:
- Lemon slices
- Extra strawberries (halved)
- Fresh basil leaves
Make the Strawberry Basil Syrup:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine strawberries, sugar, and 1/2 cup water.
Stir occasionally until strawberries break down and the sugar dissolves (about 5 minutes).
Remove from heat, add fresh basil leaves, and let steep for 10 minutes.
Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher, pressing to extract maximum flavor. Discard solids.
Prepare the Lemonade:
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the strawberry basil syrup.
Add the remaining 3.5 cups of cold water. Stir well to combine.
Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or water, if needed.
Add ice if serving immediately.
Serve:
Pour the lemonade into glasses filled with ice.
Garnish with lemon slices, strawberries, and basil leaves for a vibrant touch.
Serve chilled and enjoy your refreshing Strawberry Basil Lemonade
Recipe Notes :
Strawberries : Fresh strawberries give the best flavor, but you can use frozen (thawed) in a pinch.
Sugar Swap : You can substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup for a natural sweetener.
Sparkling Option : For a fizzy version, replace some of the water with sparkling water or soda just before serving.
Make Ahead : You can make the syrup ahead and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Kid-Friendly : This is a great alcohol-free drink, but adults can add a splash of vodka or gin for a cocktail twist.
