- 1 whole chicken (1.5–1.8 kg)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- 1 tsp sweet paprika
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1½ cups chicken stock
- 1/4 cup cream or sour cream (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Roasted Chicken with Paprika Gravy Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 190°C.
Pat the chicken completely dry with paper towels.
Season the chicken inside and out with salt and pepper.
Rub the skin with oil or butter evenly.
Place the chicken in a roasting pan and roast until golden and cooked through.
Remove the chicken from the pan and keep warm.
In the same pan sauté chopped onion until soft.
Add garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
Stir in sweet paprika and smoked paprika gently.
Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well.
Gradually add chicken stock, stirring to form a smooth gravy.
Simmer until the gravy thickens.
Add cream or sour cream if using and mix gently.
Adjust seasoning and strain if desired.
Serve roasted chicken topped with warm paprika gravy.
