Sweet and Sour Pork Ingredients :
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 2/3 cup cider vinegar
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 1 pound boneless pork loin, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 medium onion, cut into chunks
- 2 medium carrots, sliced
- 1 medium green pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 can (8 ounces) pineapple chunks, drained
- Hot cooked rice (optional)
How To Make Sweet and Sour Pork
Combine brown sugar, vinegar, ketchup, and soy sauce in a small bowl. Transfer half of the mixture to a large resealable plastic bag and add the pork. Seal the bag and coat the pork evenly. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Reserve the remaining marinade.
Remove the pork from the marinade and discard the marinade. Heat oil in a large skillet and cook the pork for 3 minutes. Add onion, carrots, green pepper, garlic, and ginger; sauté until the pork is tender. Pour in the reserved marinade, bring to a boil, and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the pineapple. Optionally, serve over rice.
Recipe Notes:
Marinate the pork in half of the sauce mixture for at least 30 minutes to deeply infuse flavor.
Stir-fry pork in batches to ensure even cooking and a crispy exterior before adding vegetables.
Sauté onions, carrots, and bell peppers until they are tender yet still slightly crisp for contrast.
Return the reserved marinade to the pan and bring to a boil before adding pineapple chunks to meld flavors.
Serve immediately over hot rice to soak up the tangy, vibrant sauce and complete the meal.
