Makovník Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp yeast
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup ground poppy seeds
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Makovník Instructions:
In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Add warm milk and butter, then knead into a soft dough.
Cover and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes.
In a pan, heat milk, sugar, and poppy seeds.
Cook until the mixture thickens, then add vanilla.
Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
Spread the poppy seed filling evenly over the dough.
Roll the dough tightly into a log.
Place on a baking tray.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for about 30–35 minutes until golden.
Cool slightly, slice, and serve.
