Asian Turkey Meatballs Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 whole green onion, chopped (both green and white parts)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce

Asian Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/8 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for serving, if desired

How To Make Asian Turkey Meatballs:

1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped green onions, egg, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly using your hands.

2

Grease a baking sheet with oil. Form the mixture into 12 meatballs, using slightly wet hands to prevent sticking.

3

Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until fully cooked.

4

Remove from the oven and toss the meatballs with the Asian sauce.

5

Serve immediately, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

6

For the Asian Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine hoisin sauce, low sodium soy sauce, water, and sesame oil. Stir well until thoroughly combined. Set aside until ready to use with the meatballs.

Recipe Notes:

Meatball Binder: Combine ground turkey with a modest amount of panko (or breadcrumbs) and an egg to help the meatballs hold shape while staying tender.

Glaze Consistency: Adjust thickening—add a cornstarch slurry a little at a time to reach a glossy, clingy glaze that’s neither too runny nor pasty.

Baking Temperature: Bake at around 400°F (200°C) for well-browned exterior and juicy centers—typically in about 15 minutes.

Serving Ideas: Serve hot over steamed rice, alongside stir-fried vegetables, or as bite-sized appetizers garnished with sesame seeds and green onions for freshness.
