BLT Salad with Avocado Recipe – American Special

This BLT salad captures all the flavors we adore in a BLT without the carbs, making it a healthier option 🙂 — though we sometimes can’t resist adding croutons ;).

BLT Salad with Avocado Ingredients:

  • 12 slices of lean center-cut bacon (or 6-8 thick slices)
  • 3-4 Roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup light mayonnaise (but real mayo works great too!)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 medium heads or 1 large head of romaine lettuce, chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 1 medium Hass avocado, chopped

How to make BLT Salad with Avocado:

Place the bacon in a large non-stick skillet and sauté over low heat, turning frequently, until crispy. Transfer to paper towels to cool, then crumble or chop the bacon.

In a medium bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes with 1/4 cup of mayonnaise, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, and a pinch of pepper. Stir well to combine and set aside for 10 minutes to allow the tomatoes to release their juices. This flavorful and simple mixture serves as your dressing.

To serve, divide the chopped lettuce among 4 plates. Top each plate with 1/4 of the tomato “dressing,” then evenly distribute the avocado and crumbled bacon among the plates. For a more casual presentation, toss everything together in a large salad bowl and serve.
