Chicken Cutlet Recipe – Russian Special

Chicken Cutlets, known in Russia as “Kotleti,” are a beloved comfort food that combines tender minced chicken with simple seasonings and a crispy golden coating. These delicious patties are popular across Russian and Eastern European households and are often served as a satisfying main course with mashed potatoes, rice, or fresh salad. The cutlets are prepared by mixing ground chicken with ingredients such as onions, bread, eggs, and mild spices, which help create a soft and juicy texture inside while the outer layer becomes beautifully crisp when pan-fried.

What makes Russian-style Chicken Cutlets special is their delicate balance of flavor and texture. The addition of soaked bread or milk-softened crumbs keeps the meat tender and moist, while gentle seasoning enhances the natural taste of the chicken without overpowering it. Once shaped into oval patties and coated with breadcrumbs, the cutlets are fried until golden brown and aromatic. The result is a comforting dish with a crispy exterior and a soft, flavorful interior. Often enjoyed during family meals or traditional gatherings, Chicken Cutlets are a classic example of simple ingredients transformed into a hearty and delicious homemade dish.
