Chicken Samosa Recipe – Pakistani Special

Chicken Samosas are a beloved South Asian snack featuring a crisp, golden pastry filled with spiced minced chicken, herbs, and aromatics. Whether deep-fried to crispy perfection or baked for a lighter twist, these handheld treats are perfect for Iftar, tea-time, or party appetizers. Serve them hot with chutney for an irresistible bite!

For the Filling:
- 250g (½ lb) ground chicken
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
- Juice of ½ a lemon
For the Samosas:
- Samosa pastry sheets or homemade dough
- Flour-water paste (for sealing)
- Oil, for deep frying
Prepare the Filling:
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
Add ground chicken, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until no longer pink. Stir in turmeric, coriander powder, red chili, garam masala, and salt. Cook until dry.
Add green chili, lemon juice, and fresh coriander. Let the mixture cool before filling.
Assemble the Samosas:
Take a samosa sheet or rolled dough triangle. Fill with 1–2 tsp of chicken mixture. Fold into a triangular shape and seal edges using flour-water paste.
Fry the Samosas:
Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry samosas in batches over medium heat until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Recipe Notes :
Freezer-Friendly : Uncooked samosas can be frozen on a tray and stored in a zip bag for later. Fry directly from frozen—no need to thaw.
Baking Option : Brush samosas with oil and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20–25 mins, flipping halfway.
Serving Suggestion : Best with mint chutney, tamarind sauce, or ketchup.
Make It Spicier : Add extra chili or a pinch of crushed red pepper to the filling.
