- 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2–3 red or green chilies, chopped
For the Sauce:
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp fish sauce (optional)
- ½ tsp sugar
Finishing:
- 1 cup Thai basil or sweet basil
Chili Basil Fried Rice Instructions:
Heat oil in a wok and cook your protein until done; push aside.
Crack an egg in the wok and scramble lightly.
Add garlic, chilies, onions, and bell peppers; stir-fry for a minute.
Add cooked rice and break up any lumps.
Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar.
Toss on high heat until rice is fully coated and aromatic.
Add basil leaves and stir until wilted.
Serve hot with lime wedges or extra chilies.
Recipe Notes :
Use cold, day-old rice for the best texture and to prevent mushy Thai fried rice.
Adjust chilies to create a medium spice or extra-hot flavor based on your heat tolerance.
Chicken, shrimp, or tofu work well and help the spicy fried rice absorb bold flavors.
Add a splash of dark soy or fish sauce for deeper umami and restaurant-style fried rice results.
Stir-fry on high heat to keep the rice grains separate and maintain that classic wok-fried flavor.
