Hotdog Roll-Ups Ingredients :
- 8 hot dogs
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough (or biscuit dough)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice, optional)
- 1 tablespoon mustard or ketchup (optional, for spreading on dough)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
- Cooking spray or butter (for greasing)
How to make Hotdog Roll-Ups :
Preheat the oven:Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray or brush with melted butter.
Prepare the dough:Unroll the crescent roll dough (or biscuit dough) onto a flat surface. If using crescent dough, separate it into individual triangles. For biscuit dough, flatten each biscuit into a small oval or circle with your hands or a rolling pin.
Add cheese (optional):If you’d like to include cheese, place a small amount of shredded cheese in the center of each dough piece.
Wrap the hot dogs:Place a hot dog on the wide end of each crescent triangle (or in the center of each flattened biscuit). Roll up the dough around the hot dog, pinching the edges to seal it.
Bake:Place the wrapped hot dogs onto the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a bit of crunch and flavor. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
Serve:Allow the hotdog roll-ups to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Serve with mustard, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauces on the side.
Recipe Notes :
Cheese Options:You can use any type of cheese—cheddar, mozzarella, or even a spicy pepper jack—to add extra flavor inside the roll-ups. For a simpler version, skip the cheese entirely.
Hotdog Variations:Feel free to swap regular hot dogs for mini hot dogs, sausages, or even veggie dogs for a vegetarian version of this snack.
Flavor Additions:If you like a bit of spice, try adding a small dollop of mustard or relish inside the dough before rolling up the hot dog. You can also brush the dough with garlic butter before baking for extra flavor.
Make Ahead:You can prepare the hotdog roll-ups in advance by assembling them, covering them with plastic wrap, and refrigerating until ready to bake. Just increase the baking time by a couple of minutes if baking from cold.
Serving Ideas:Hotdog roll-ups are perfect on their own or served with a side of chips, a salad, or even a veggie platter. They’re also great for parties, picnics, or tailgates.
