Malai Kofta Recipe – Indian Special

Malai Kofta is a classic North Indian dish known for its rich, creamy gravy and soft, melt-in-the-mouth kofta balls. This popular vegetarian recipe features deep-fried dumplings made from mashed potatoes, paneer, and sometimes vegetables or dry fruits, which are then simmered in a luxurious tomato-based gravy enriched with cream. The word “malai” refers to cream, highlighting the smooth and velvety texture of the curry, while “kofta” refers to the soft dumplings that soak up all the delicious flavors of the sauce. This dish is often served during special occasions, festive meals, or restaurant-style dining due to its indulgent taste and elegant presentation.

What makes Malai Kofta truly special is the combination of textures and flavors in every bite. The kofta balls are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, while the gravy is mildly spiced, slightly sweet, and incredibly creamy. Ingredients like cashew paste, butter, and aromatic spices add depth and richness to the dish. Often paired with naan, roti, or jeera rice, Malai Kofta offers a satisfying and comforting meal experience. Its balance of mild spices and creamy consistency makes it a favorite among both kids and adults who enjoy flavorful yet not overly spicy dishes.
