Matcha Latte Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder (ceremonial grade for best flavor)
- 1–2 teaspoons sweetener (sugar, honey, or maple syrup, to taste)
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based like almond, oat, or coconut)
- 1/4 cup hot water (for dissolving matcha)
- Optional: pinch of vanilla extract or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flavor
How to make Matcha Latte :
Prepare Matcha:Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a bowl to prevent clumping.
Add 1/4 cup of hot water (not boiling, about 175°F/80°C) and whisk vigorously in a “W” motion until smooth and frothy. Use a bamboo whisk for an authentic approach or a small electric frother.
Heat the Milk:
In a separate saucepan, heat your milk over medium heat until steaming, but not boiling. You can froth the milk with a handheld frother for a creamy texture.
Combine and Serve:Pour the steamed milk into the matcha mixture. Sweeten with sugar, honey, or maple syrup to taste. Stir well to combine.
Optionally, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a drop of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
Enjoy:Serve hot in your favorite mug. You can also serve it iced by letting the matcha milk cool and pouring it over ice.
Recipe Notes:
Matcha Quality: For the best flavor, use ceremonial-grade matcha. Culinary-grade matcha is better for baking or cooking.
Milk Alternatives: Oat milk creates a creamy texture and is a popular choice for matcha lattes. Almond or coconut milk will give a lighter taste.
Sweetener: Adjust the sweetness to your preference. Matcha can be slightly bitter, so feel free to add more sweetener if needed.
Iced Matcha Latte: For an iced version, prepare the matcha with hot water, cool it, and pour it over ice with cold milk.
