Chinese Pepper Steak Ingredients :
- 1 pound of top sirloin steak
- ¼ cup of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of white sugar
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon of ground ginger
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil, divided
- 1 red onion, cut into 1-inch squares
- 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
- 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges
How To Make Chinese Pepper Steak
Slice the steak into 1/2-inch thick slices across the grain.
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and ginger until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is smooth. Add the steak slices to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated.
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak strips in batches in the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Stir and cook until browned, about 3 minutes. Transfer the cooked steak to a bowl. Repeat with the remaining steak, adding more oil as needed. Set aside the cooked meat.
Return the cooked steak strips to the hot wok. Stir in the onion and cook, tossing with the steak until the onion starts to soften, about 2 minutes. Add the green pepper.
Cook and stir until the peppers turn bright green and begin to soften, about 2 minutes. Then add the tomatoes.
Stir everything together to blend flavors. Serve immediately.
