Honey sesame & Orange King Prawns Ingredients :

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • Zest and juice of 1 large orange
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons cornflour
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Generous pinch of Chinese five-spice powder
  • 300 grams raw king prawns
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower or vegetable oil
  • 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
  • 2 spring onions, sliced
  • 200 grams cooked long-grain rice

How To Make Honey Sesame & Orange King Prawns

1

Combine sesame oil, orange zest, orange juice, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar in a bowl. In another bowl, mix cornflour, sesame seeds, Chinese five-spice, and a pinch of salt. Use a small knife to butterfly each prawn along the back to help the sauce adhere better during cooking.

2

Coat the prawns evenly with the cornflour mixture. Heat sunflower or vegetable oil in a large wok or frying pan until very hot. Add sliced garlic and cook for 10 seconds without letting it brown. Add the coated prawns along with any remaining flour and seeds from the bowl. Stir-fry over high heat for a few minutes until the prawns turn pink and the sesame seeds are golden brown.

3

Transfer the prawns to a plate. Pour the sauce mixture into the wok and let it bubble for a few minutes until it thickens slightly. Return the prawns to the wok and stir to coat them evenly in the sauce. Heat through for another 30 seconds. Garnish with sliced spring onions and serve with cooked rice.
