Čobanac Recipe – South America Special

Čobanac is a traditional Balkan meat stew celebrated for its deep, smoky flavor and hearty ingredients. Čobanac Ingredients:

  • 500 g mixed meat (beef, pork, or venison), cubed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Čobanac Instructions:

Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add chopped onions and sauté until soft.

Stir in garlic and cook briefly.

Add the cubed meat and brown on all sides.

Sprinkle paprika and mix well.

Add chopped tomato and tomato paste.

Pour in beef broth and add bay leaf.

Season with salt and black pepper.

Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat.

Simmer for about 1 hour until the meat is tender.
