Caprese Skewers with Mozzarella and Basil Ingredients :

  • 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz) ball fresh mozzarella (Bocconcini or Ciliegine), drained
  • Fresh basil leaves (about 20-25)
  • Balsamic glaze or reduction (for drizzling)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Wooden skewers or toothpicks

How to make Caprese Skewers with Mozzarella and Basil :

1

Prepare the Ingredients:Wash and dry the tomatoes.

2

Drain the mozzarella balls if needed.

3

Wash and pat dry the basil leaves.

4

Assemble the Skewers:Thread a tomato, a basil leaf, and a mozzarella ball onto each skewer or toothpick. Repeat until you fill each skewer, arranging the ingredients in alternating layers.

5

Optionally, fold the basil leaves slightly to ensure they fit neatly on the skewer.

6

Drizzle with Olive Oil and Balsamic Glaze:Arrange the skewers on a serving platter.

7

Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze or reduction for flavor.

8

Season:Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

9

Serve:Serve immediately as a light appetizer or snack. You can also refrigerate for up to 30 minutes before serving if you want them to be chilled.

Recipe Notes :

Balsamic glaze substitute: No glaze on hand? Simply reduce balsamic vinegar over low heat until syrupy—this homemade version works beautifully.

Heirloom tomato option: Want more color or unique flavors? Swap in heirloom or other small tomatoes in place of cherry or grape varieties

Make-ahead convenience: You can assemble the skewers 1–2 hours before serving—just cover and refrigerate, then drizzle with oil and glaze right before guests arrive
