Thai Fried Bananas Ingredients :
- You’ll need 6 namwa bananas (or 1-2 plantains as a substitute), which are smaller tropical bananas. Additionally, gather the following ingredients:
- 3/4 cup Iya Foods Tapioca Flour
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 3 teaspoons honey (adjust if bananas are very ripe)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup water, plus more if needed to adjust batter consistency
- Vegetable oil for frying
How to Make Thai Fried Bananas
Peel the namwa bananas and cut them in half lengthwise. Set them aside.
Combine tapioca flour with water, pouring it slowly until a thick batter forms.
Mix in shredded coconut, sesame seeds, salt, and honey (adjusting for ripeness or desired sweetness). Add more water if the batter is too dry.
Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a pan, ensuring there’s enough for the bananas to be submerged at least halfway.
Dip each banana half into the batter, coating both sides evenly. Fry them until they turn golden and crispy on each side. Avoid overcooking or burning them. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain them on paper towels.
Enjoy your fried bananas!
