Tlayudas Ingredients:
- 2 large corn tortillas (30 cm / 12-inch diameter, preferably Oaxacan style)
- 1 cup refried black beans
- 150g (5 oz) Oaxaca cheese or mozzarella, shredded
- 100g (3.5 oz) cooked meat (chorizo, shredded chicken, or beef)
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup sliced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced avocado
- 2 tbsp pickled red onions (optional)
- 1–2 tsp vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
- Hot sauce, for serving
Tlayudas Instructions:
Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat; lightly brush tortillas with oil.
Warm tortillas for 1–2 minutes until slightly crisp.
Spread a layer of refried beans evenly over each tortilla.
Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beans.
Add cooked meat evenly on top of cheese.
Cover with a lid or aluminum foil for 2–3 minutes to melt cheese.
Remove from heat; top with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and pickled onions.
Season with salt and serve immediately with hot sauce.
