Lavender Latte Ingredients :
- 1 shot espresso (or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee)
- 1 cup milk (whole, skim, or a non-dairy milk like oat or almond)
- 1 tbsp lavender syrup (or homemade lavender simple syrup)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional, for added depth)
- Lavender buds (optional, for garnish)
How to make Lavender Latte :
Brew the coffee:Brew a shot of espresso using your espresso machine, or make strong brewed coffee using a French press or drip coffee maker. Set aside.
Heat the milk:In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat until it’s hot but not boiling. Use a whisk or milk frother to steam and froth the milk, creating a smooth, velvety texture. (If you don’t have a milk frother, you can simply whisk the milk vigorously or use a handheld blender.)
Prepare the lavender syrup:Stir lavender syrup into the brewed coffee or espresso. Start with 1 tbsp of syrup, and add more to taste if you like a stronger floral flavor. You can use store-bought lavender syrup or make your own (see notes below).
Combine and serve:Pour the lavender-sweetened espresso into your mug, then slowly pour the frothed milk over the top. If you like, you can gently stir the drink to combine the layers. For a decorative touch, garnish with a few lavender buds on top.
Enjoy:Sip and enjoy the soothing, aromatic flavors of your homemade Lavender Latte!
Recipe Notes :
Lavender Quality Tips: Use culinary-grade lavender; avoid lavender meant exclusively for potpourri as it may have undesirable flavor or treatment.
Milk Alternatives: Almond, oat, or soy milk work well if you want dairy-free; each will change creaminess slightly.
Sweetness Level: Adjust the lavender syrup to taste; some prefer a subtle floral note, others a more pronounced sweetness.
Espresso Strength: Use single or double shot depending on how strong and caffeinated you want your latte.
Serving & Garnish: Top with dried lavender buds or a light sprinkle of cinnamon for a luxury finish. Serve in a pre-warmed mug for best sipping.
Storage & Make Ahead: Lavender syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Reheat milk gently; avoid boiling to preserve texture.
