Spanish Garlic Toast Ingredients:

  • 1 baguette or rustic Spanish bread, sliced
  • 1–2 cloves of garlic, peeled and halved
  • 1–2 ripe tomatoes (optional)
  • Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling
  • Salt, to taste

Toast the Bread:

1

Lightly toast the bread slices on a grill pan, in the oven, or in a toaster until golden and crisp.

Rub with Garlic:

2

While the toast is still hot, rub the cut side of the garlic clove directly onto the surface of the toast.

Optional Tomato Rub:

3

Cut the tomato in half and rub the cut side over the garlic-rubbed toast, allowing the juices and pulp to absorb into the bread.

Drizzle & Season:

4

Drizzle generously with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve immediately.

Recipe Notes :

Bread Choice : Use a crusty, rustic loaf—baguette, ciabatta, or traditional Spanish barra work beautifully.

Garlic Intensity : For milder flavor, roast the garlic beforehand or use less pressure when rubbing.

Tomato Tip : Use super ripe tomatoes for the best flavor and juiciness. In Spain, this variation is often called Pan con Tomate.

Serving Idea : Serve as is, or top with jamón, anchovies, or manchego cheese for a fancier tapa.

Storage : Best enjoyed fresh. However, toasted bread can be made ahead and rubbed right before serving.
