Brie & Asian Pear Bruschetta Ingredients:
- 1 French baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 150g (5 oz) Brie cheese, sliced
- 1 ripe Asian pear, thinly sliced
- 1–2 tsp lemon juice (to prevent pear from browning)
- 2 tbsp honey or balsamic glaze (for drizzling)
- Fresh thyme leaves or chopped walnuts (optional, for garnish)
Toast the Bread:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
Bake for 6–8 minutes until crisp and lightly golden.
Prep the Pear:
Thinly slice the Asian pear and toss with lemon juice to keep it fresh and bright.
Assemble:
Top each toasted baguette slice with a slice of Brie and a pear slice.
Return to the oven for 2 minutes, just until the Brie starts to soften.
Garnish and Serve:
Drizzle with honey or balsamic glaze.
Sprinkle with thyme or chopped walnuts, if using.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Recipe Notes :
Bread Selection: While a French baguette is traditional, experimenting with sourdough or ciabatta can add unique flavors and textures to the bruschetta.
Cheese Tip: For optimal slicing, chill the brie before cutting. Allow it to come to room temperature slightly before serving to enhance its creamy texture.
Pear Alternatives: If Asian pears are unavailable, Bosc or Anjou pears can be used as substitutes, offering a similar crispness and sweetness.
Flavor Variations: Incorporating a thin layer of fig jam or apple butter under the brie can introduce an additional layer of sweetness and complexity.
Preparation Tips: To streamline preparation, toast the bread and prepare the toppings in advance. Assemble and warm the assembled bruschetta just before serving to ensure freshness.
