Easy Cranberry Sauce Ingredients:
- 12 ounces cranberries about 3 cups
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup orange juice or water
- 1 cinnamon stick
How to Make Easy Cranberry Sauce Recipe:
Place all ingredients in a saucepan or medium pot over medium heat.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer uncovered for 10-12 minutes. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
Recipe Notes:
You can prepare this sauce weeks (or even months) in advance and freeze it. Just thaw it overnight and serve it on the big day!
Using water gives it a more traditional flavor, while orange juice adds zest.
As the cranberry sauce cools, it will naturally thicken.
For a smoother texture, pour the warm sauce through a mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing the cranberries to extract as much juice as possible. Alternatively, use a hand blender to achieve a smoother consistency.
